April SAAM Event at NEIU
As April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), ALMAA will be distributing sexual violence awareness/educational literature, rubber bracelets, and ALMAA sport bottles to students and faculty at Northeastern Illinois University's Village Square on Tuesday, April 20 from 11am - 3pm. Also, ALMAA will have an information table and representatives available at the performances of the play, "A Dress of Steel Mesh" by Kemba Saran. This play is produced in conjunction with the Support Women's Voices Project and is designed to Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence.

To augment the face-to-face distribution of ALMAA educational materials, mass media vehicles will also be utilized. An ALMAA Facebook “Cause” was created to encourage activism and volunteerism, a feature article about ALMAA will be in the Independent school paper, two public service announcements about ALMAA and SAAM will be broadcast on the student radio station WZRD 88.3fm (“The Wizard”), and a mass email announcement about ALMAA and SAAM will be sent to all students and faculty.
